Performances
Live fun never ends at Mesa Arts Center! As a nation's first class venue, the center plays host to an array of live performances to get the visitors enchanted. Throughout April, the featured live events include:
1) April 1, UnBreakable
This is a hilarious production presented by HBR. The story tells how a girl lost everything she had, and after that how she began to pick up pieces of her life under the encouragement of the spiritual guidance and family. This performance will be on stage at 7 pm at Nesbitt/Elliott Playhouse. The ticket price is $22 flat rate.
2) April 2, Porgy and Bess Suite
Given by Arizona Chamber Orchestra, this concert will benefit you with lush visions of American South, looming from the performance of the celebrated harmonica virtuoso Miroslav Bozic. This live concert will start at 8 pm in Piper Repertory Theater, and the ticket costs $20 for adults and $10 for students.
3) April 4, How Can I Keep from Singing
Romance Choral Group will evoke the love of music in every audience and show how the charm of singing keeps human soul alive from medieval to modern times. The entire concert opens with a set of light and cathedral music, and later involves a set of joyful spirituals and a dozen of jazz pieces. This event will help you know better the meaning of music and its importance. It will take place in Nesbitt/Elliott Playhouse at 7 pm. Advance ticket costs $5, while purchase at the door will be $10 on event day.
4) April 7, Video Games Live
This is an irresistible concert which features music from the most famous and finest video games. It is produced by acclaimed video game composer Tommy Tallarico and Jack Wall, along with the world-class orchestras and choirs. This is a one-of-a-kind auditory feast for audiences of all ages, whether gamers or non-gamers alike. It awaits you at 7:30 pm at Ikeda Theater, and the ticket price ranges from $37 to $52.
5) April 8 - 23, Man of La Mancha
Inspired by Cervantes' "Don Quixote", this poignant play is an awesome live show which gains great acclaim of our time. It is about the impossible dreams hovering in the mind of a dying old man. His dream is everyone's dream. After the show series, the classic songs, like The Impossible Dream and I'm Only Thinking of Him, will remain in your thoughts. As the winner of 5 Tony Awards, this remarkable show deserves your time.
The tickets of Man of La Mancha are divided into two types, and the prices are respectively $25 for adults, while $20 for teachers, students and seniors. See you at Farnsworth Studio!
6) April 22, Nikki Yanofsky
When at 16 years of age, Nikki Yanofsky has made herself stand out and played at Carnegie Hall and Lincoln Center. Her single "I Believe" is designated as the official song of the 2010 Winter Olympics and skyrockets to No.1 on the Canadian charts. On Friday, April 22, she is going to sing at Piper Repertory Theater! The performance will starts at 7:30 pm and the ticket is just priced $30 per.
Art Exhibitions
Boasting its Contemporary Arts exhibition hall, Mesa Arts Center showcases art works of contemporary emerging or international-recognized artists. If we say the live performances at the center is for auditory fun, then Mesa Contemporary Arts is a place for appreciation and inspiration.
1) April 1 through August 7, Vermilion Remains
This exhibition program strives to document the disappearing biodiversity of La Cholla with cultural and scientific archives stemming from mid-century. The exhibits include 30 paintings of varied sizes, 15 glass and steel vitrines, and many more. Most importantly, this exhibition is totally free and open daily from April 1 to August 7. The opening reception will take place on Friday, April 8, at 7 pm to 10 pm.

2) April 8 to August 7, Wood & Stone, Substance & Spirit
Roger Asay and Rebecca Davis have got aspirations from the natural items they find and assembled sculptures from the raw materials for over 30 years. Starting from Friday, April 8, they will show their marvelous creations at Mesa Contemporary Arts and produce a visual interpretation of nation. This exhibition is also free for all visitors, and Roger Asay and Rebecca Davis will give an Artist Talk at 7:30 pm during the Opening Reception on Friday, April 8.
