Live Performances
Art is more than just stereotyped exhibitions, but has a life. Phoenix Art Museum is dedicated to bringing art to life via various types of live performances. Let's take a sneak preview of the performances to be presented in the first half year of 2011.
Feel Snazzy? Get Jazzy!
It's an informal performance embracing two of Ann Bonfoey Taylor's favorite musical styles: Big Band and jazz. If you fell snazzy and lose your heart to jazz like Mrs. Taylor, why not get jazzy with Tommy Eggleston Band in the exhibition? Music starts at 2:00 pm, April 26.
Art Inspires Art
The blossom of art industry can't be achieved without the musical creativity and innovation contributed by numerous art lovers. To celebrate their great works, student composers from ASU School of Music will present string quartet to the accompaniment of Peter Wegner's Guillotine of Shade and Guillotine of Sunlight. It will be presented at 1:30 pm, April 30.
Guide to an Exhibitionist
This is a multimedia dance-theatre work considered highly as "the reigning queen of site-specific performance" by L.A. Times. It expresses the mysteries of the nude, still life and color-field painting through the body movement of live performers in an oversized frame. This award-winning performance has brought its artistic excellence to audiences throughout the world. Good news is that this show will be staged at Phoenix Art Museum in the night of May 7.
Performances to be held in the rest months of 2011 have not been posted yet. For up-to-date info on live performances, please keep an eye on the official site of Phoenix Art Museum:
