The learning process is quicker and quite different from adults when it comes to children. Child psychologists have relentlessly researched this subject and evolved numerous ways to aid the learning process in children. A fundamental necessity with every approach to children's learning is that it should be filled with joy. The Phoenix Children's Museum is an embodiment of this principle.

At the Phoenix Children's Museum, the mission is focused on engaging the minds, imaginations and muscles of children as well as the grown ups who care for their children. The exhibits have an interactive and hands-on design aimed at children right from birth to age 10.

Learning through a playful method emphasizing on education during early childhood and paving way to school readiness has been in the forefront of Phoenix Children's Museum's efforts.

The museum was founded in 1998, more as a family museum with just a small group of volunteers. 2001 however saw the Phoenix voters approving a 10.5 million bond funds to acquire and renovate partially the Monroe School which presently houses the Phoenix children's museum.

In 2005, the museum received further fillip when the CEO & President, Deborah Gilpin contributed in a large measures towards taking the museum to greater heights. His efforts translated to a resounding success and in December, 2005 the museum was officially named Children's Museum of Phoenix with an objective to convey the focus of the museum.

The permanent facility of the museum at Phoenix was preceded by a traveling exhibit program titled 'Museum without walls' covering various community and school events and attracted 275,000 participants from across the valley.

Children's Museum Of Phoenix Hours:
Closed on Mondays, with the exception of select holidays.

Summer Hours:
Open 7 days a week, now through August 15.

Non-Summer Hours:
Tuesday - Sunday: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
