Phoenix Zoo

One of Phoenix Arizona's pride is its zoo. The home of over 1,000 animals and over 200 endangered species can be found here. The Phoenix zoo is the largest "non-profit" zoo in USA. They are proud to be contributing to the breeding and maintaining the population of endangered species by being a participant of the 37 Species Survival Plans or SSPs.

The Phoenix zoo can be found in Phoenix Papago Park, its land area is 125 acres which is big enough for all the 1300+ animals to live comfortably and thrive. Just like any zoo, there's so much to see here and spending a day in this zoo won't be enough for you to cover and see every animal here.

There are 4 major trails in this zoo namely the Arizona Trail, The tropics trail, the African Trail and the Children's trail. 2 minor trails found here are the Forest of Uco and the Desert Lives Trail.

The most famous trail of them all is none other than the African Trail where you'll see most of the popularly known animals in the world. After all, Africa is well known for its vast number of animal species that lives in their jungles and forests. The lioins, baboons, cheetahs and rhinos are just some of the most popular animals in the African Trail.

The Arizona trail showcases the wildlife in Arizona which is known for its desert. Cactuses can be found everywhere and animals that live here are the balg eagle, turkey vulture, coyotes and many more desert animals.

Take note, the animals that live here are far different from the animals that lives in places where water is abundant and animals from the African trail that are not used to the desert live will certainly not survive in this type of environment.

The tropics trail lives the animals that are from the tropical forests. Elephants, jaguars and tortoise are just some of them. Tropical birds can be found on the outer tropics while orangutans and Tropical flights aviary are found in the inner trial.

In the Phoenix zoo, kids can learn a lot about animals when on Phoenix travel. The Children's trail is where you'll find other types of animals and you'll reach the Harmony Farms where children can learn about the farm life and can pet different farm animals. This will give them a sense of connection to these animals and they will learn what humans can do to help these animals live happy lives.
