Hit the Phoenix Zoo on your next vacation. The zoo sprawls over 125 acres and is home to more than 1,300 animals, including more than 200 endangered or threatened birds, reptiles and mammals from around the world. Enjoy numerous hands-on activities, like feeding a giraffe or riding a camel. The Phoenix Zoo is a wonderful tourist destination for both children and adults.

It's far from enough for Phoenix Zoo to showcase cute animals. The zoo has been very active in wildlife conservation programs since its opening in 1962. Numerous local and international efforts have been made for endangered species, such as the Mexican wolf, black-footed ferret, Sumatran tiger and Asian elephant and many more.

How to get to the zoo? If you're driving to the Phoenix Zoo, pack yourself with the driving directions to ensure you'll not get lost.

From the North/Northwest - You need to head southeast on AZ-51 S and keep right at the folk. Follow signs for AZ-201 Loop E and merge onto AZ-202 Loop E. Proceed on and take exit 4 toward Van Buren Street. Continue to merge onto N 52nd Street and turn left to E Van Buren Street. Turn left and drive to the Phoenix Zoo parking lot.

From the Northeast - Head south on AZ-101 Loop N. Take exit 51 to merge onto AZ-202 Loop W. Take exit 6 for Center Pkwy toward Priest Drive, Keep to the right at the folk to continue toward Center Pkwy. Turn to the right at N Center Pkwy and continue to turn right at W Washington Street. Make a left turn at N Mill Avenue. Turn right and you'll see the zoo.

From the West - Drive eastbound on I-10 E toward Exit 134 and take exit 147A to merge onto AZ-202 Loop. Take exit 4 toward Van Buren Street and merge onto N 52nd Street. Take a left turn and the Phoenix Zoo will be within a short distance.

From the South - Take I-10 W toward Exit 161. Then you need to take exit 153A to merge onto AZ-143 N toward Sky Harbor. Head on and take exit 4 for Washington Street. Keep right at the fork and follow signs for Washington Street and turn right at E Washington Street. Turn left onto N 48th Street at the first traffic light and take the first right onto E Van Buren Street. Turn left to the parking garage of Phoenix Zoo.

From the airport - Head west on E Yuma Street and take a slight right turn at S 27th Street. Turn right to E Buckeye Road and take the first left toward E Sky Harbor Blvd and proceed on the Blvd and keep left at the fork. Follow signs for 44th Street and merge onto S 44th Street and turn right to E Van Buren Street. Turn left and you'll find the Phoenix Zoo.
