How to Use Public Transportation in Phoenix
The Valley Metro in Phoenix provides eco friendly options of public transportation in the area of greater Phoenix. It includes a bus fleet of clean fuel and low emissions light rail.
Using the Valley Metro Bus
You can plan your Valley Metro bus route online. Single bus fares of the bus starts from $1.25 and visitors can use other fare options like day passes.
After determining your bus route, time of the bus, cost and where you may have to change buses, you are ready to board the bus. Bus stops are located approximately every quarter mile at the major intersections. You have to be present at the bus stop atleast 5 minutes before the bus is scheduled to leave. While the bus approaches, remember to confirm the route name, number and travel direction by checking the sign on the windshield. After this you can signal the bus operator to stop by waving and board the bus.
Using the Metro Light Rail
You have to possess a valid transit fare to ride the metro or to be at the metro station. The Valley Metro bus and the Metro light rail shares the same fare system. You can use an all day pass on both the light rail and the local bus. The all day pass expires at 2:59 am on the nest day. Seniors, youths and disabled persons can have reduced fair. You must also remember to activate an all day or multiple day pass on the buses or station platforms before boarding the train. You can buy the passes at the fare vending machines located at any light rail station.
