Things Need to Know: Transportation and Parking Options at Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport
Phoenix is served by Sky Harbor International Airport, which is centrally located in the metro area near several major freeway interchanges east of downtown Phoenix. Sky Harbor is the ninth-busiest airport in the U.S. and 17th in the world for passenger traffic. The airport serves more than 100 cities with non-stop flights.
Sky Harbor became the first airport to operationally use back scatter X-ray technologies for screening passengers. This technology allows screeners to tell if passengers are carrying hidden weapons, explosives or drugs by allowing them to see through passengers' clothing.
Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport has Terminal Parking and Economy Parking options. Hourly and daily parking is available at garages close to each terminal. There are also two Long Term/Economy Surface Lots and two Economy Garages. All three terminals have Garage Parking. Located close to each terminal they are the most convenient parking option.
The airport has over 120 aircraft gates in three Terminals (2, 3, and 4). Terminal1 and replaced by a cell phone waiting lot. There are two Economy Parking surface lots. The East lot is located east of Terminal 4. The West lot is west of Terminal 2. Follow the signs for Economy Parking. There are also two Economy Parking Garages.
They are located close to the East Economy Parking surface lot. Free shuttle buses serve all terminals from the Economy parking lots. For stays of more than 2 hours Economy Parking is the cheapest option. The METRO Light Rail has a stop at the nearby Washington at 44th Street station, and free shuttle service connects the station with the Airport terminals themselves.
